Village Green . Contacts, alphabetical or classified . Site A-Z . Home
The only registered common land seen in the new map of this Parish shown to the Parish Council on 6 October 2005 was the village green.
Notes:
Commons are not necessarily owned in common, but they are areas of land over which common rights exist regardless of ownership.

For rules concerning works carried out on common land/village greens etc see the defra website.

Registration:
Registers of common land and village greens are kept by Commons Registration Authorities, in our case, Essex County Council.
Not all common land has been registered so far. Common rights, such as of access on foot, can be aquired over a piece of land over a period of at least 20 years, by its use by a significant number of people in that way, as if of right (rather than trespass or by invitation).
