ANNUAL SHOW 10 September 2005

Another successful Annual Show was held on September 10th at St. Andrew's School. The fruit and vegetables section had recovered somewhat from last year thanks to some new growers. The Domestic Economy Judge was kept busy with nearly twice last year's entries and there was the usual high quality craft section. Photography is really taking off with entries up from 65 to 112 with many more entries from children. Overall we had 376 entries from 67 competitors, up from 266 entries from 50 competitors last year. Round the walls we had a display of artwork from the School Children, class by class. This was of a high standard, imaginative and entertaining and never easy to Judge.

Prizes were presented by the Society's President, Paul Marshall.

The Banksian Medal. The top award of the show is the Banksian Medal provided by the Royal Horticultural Society. This is given for the highest number of points for flowers, pot plants, fruit and vegetables (excluding winners of the previous two years) and was won by Mr. F. Partridge.
