Hedingham & Great Yeldham Ambulance First Responders

Contacts, alphabetical or classified . Site A-Z . Home
Local volunteers. They are called out by the emergency services at the same time as the ambulance, but by being more local they arrive very quickly to stabilise the situation until the ambulance arrives.
"We are a group of local volunteers who are trained by the ambulance service and have been equiped to answer any alpha type emergence calls to the ambulance service (Alpha calls are life threatening). The group cover the Hedinghams, Great Yeldham and surrounding areas and our aim is to be on the scene within 8 minutes of the call.

At the moment we have only 6 members in the group and this includes 2 from Great Yeldham, but we would like to increase this.

We have been supplied with the equipment from the ambulance service (National Lottery) however we would like to have extra equipment to help us with each call but need cash to do this. We don't get any cash from the NHS or the government so for any items we require the money will need to be raised locally."   Colin Johnson, June 2005

WHAT WE NEED:
We are provided with the basic equipment from the ambulance service, but we require further kit and training products.
Our aim is to raise £5,000 over the next year if this will be possible.

We need to raise money for the following products.

Training: We are hoping to purchase at sometime a training torso, this will help us train and keep up to date. £2,000 - £4,000

Sat Monitor: This gives us the patient heart rate and blood oxygen level. £300 - £500

BP Monitor: This allows us to check the patient blood pressure £100 - £300

Group Clothing: We are provided with just a high vis jacket, but would like further jackets & clothing. No price have been put on this at the moment due to the above being more urgent.

All costs are approximate and this will depend are what cash is available next year, also we need the take advice from the ambulance service to purchase the appropriate equipment.
