THE MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON THE 1st JUNE 2006 AT 7.30 PM

IN THE READING ROOM, GREAT YELDHAM

Present were: Mr. M. Wood. (Chairman), Mr. C. Cumaranatunge, Mr. D. Dyson,
Mr. R. Francis, Mrs. B. McNeil.

In attendance: Mr. R. Liming. Clerk to the Parish Council.

Public Question Time:

Public question time. Mr. H. Pickering requested that the grass on Bowtells Meadow be cut and that village children should be allowed to play football on it. In reply the Chairman pointed out that the land was privately owned but a letter from the Parish Council would be sent to the owner of the land making Mr Pickerings request.


1060. Apologies for absence.
County Councillor Mr D. Finch, District Councillor Mr. Nigel G. McCrea. Mrs. P. Slimming, Mrs. M. Baker, Mr. I. Spencer, Mr. B. Sargeant.

1064. Correspondence.
Community Speed Watch. Members discussed at length a letter received from Councillor Mr. David Finch, giving detailed information on a proposed Community Speed Watch, a new initiative aimed at supporting local communities regulating speeding vehicles in our villages. The intended scheme would require the services of a minimum of six unpaid volunteers with a commitment to monitor a minimum of 1 hour per week Volunteers will be included within the Essex Police Authority group insurance. Members expressed reservations with the scheme but agreed that the outline details of the letter, calling for volunteers, should be included in the July issue of the Village Magazine. A more positive conclusion to the letter will then be given by members, depending on feedback received.

331 Sudbury Bus Service. A letter from Highways and Transportation confirming that the 331 service will continue to operate to its current timetable in the short term.

Activity Day 30 August 2006. A letter from the B.D.C. Leisure Development Team confirming the Parish Councils booking for a Summer Activity Day, to be held on Wednesday 30th August, 10am. To 3.30pm, in the Reading Room, was read to members by the Chairman. Advertising display posters will be received after the 1st June 2006.

Contact Summer Roadshow. A letter from Essex County Council Learning Services giving the availability times of a mobile unit for use to Parish Councils during the month of August was read to members.
The clerk was instructed to write for further information.

1065. Planning Applications. Application No 06/0103/FUL Extension over existing garage, 1 Duncan Rise, Great Yeldham. No objections recorded from members.

1066. Accounts for payment were approved for payment by members.

The meeting closed at 2045hrs.
