MINUTES of the MEETING of the GREAT YELDHAM PARISH COUNCIL
held in the Reading Room, Great Yeldham on Thursday 6 th March 2008.
Present were:- Mrs P. Slimming (Chairman), Ms. M. Baker (Vice Chairman), Mr. R. May,
Mr. B. Sargeant, Mr. R. Francis, Mr. J Beckett.
In attendance :- Mr. R. Liming. Clerk to the Parish Council.
Apologies for absence:- County Councillor, Mr D. Finch. District Councillor, Mr N. McRae,
Mr. D. Dyson, Mr. I. Spencer, Mr. C. Cumarantunge.
2134. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST.
Mr. B. Sargeant declared an interest in agenda item 4, planning application No 08/000287/FUL.
2135. FEBRUARY MINUTES.
The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 6th December 2007 were confirmed as a correct record.
2136. PLANNING APPLICATIONS.
Application No 08/00287/FUL.
Conversion of barn into single level house. Poole Street, Great Yeldham. No objections from members.
2137. CORRESPONDENCE.
A letter received from Essex County Council relating to changes to Concessionary bus passes in Essex from April 2008, was referred to the cluster meeting,
to be held in April in Great Yeldham.
Letters relating to policy matters from the District and County Council were referred for filing.
2137. VILLAGE CLEANING.
After discussion of the subject it was decided by members that the Chairman should use the services of the village magazine by requesting that volunteers from
individual roads in the village to pick up litter in their immediate location. Pick up sticks and rubber gloves to be provided by the Parish Council. The Clerk was authorised
to spend a total of £50 for the purchase of same.
2138. SUMMER FAIR IN THE VILLAGE.
Mr Francis reported that he was in contact with a number of organisations who would support a village fair. At this stage he was only seeking the support
of the Parish Council and informed the meeting that the many administrative requirements would be dealt with by a committee chaired by Mr Francis. Mr Francis
thought that July would be a good month to hold the fair. Members supported the idea of duch an event but thought that September would be a better
time to hold the fair. Mr Francis informed the meeting that he would consult all interested groups and refer back to the Parish Council.
2139. ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT were approved by members.
