MINUTES of the MEETING of the GREAT YELDHAM PARISH COUNCIL

held in the Reading Room, Great Yeldham on Thursday 4th September 2008.

Present were: Mrs. P. Slimming. (Chairman), Ms. M. Baker ( Vice Chairman), Mr. R. Francis, Mr. B Sargeant, Mr. R. May, Mr. J. Beckett, Mr. C. Cumaranatunge, Mr. D. Dyson.

In attendance: Mr. David Finch, Essex County Coucillor. Mr. R. Liming, Clerk to the Parish Council.

Apologies for absence: District Coucillor Mr. Nigel McCrea, Mr. I Spencer.

No questions were received from members of the public.

The County Coucillor gave a report on The Rural Commission (Attached report).


2179. Declarations of interest.
None received from members.

2180. Minutes.
The minutes of the meeting held on July 3rd 2008 were approved as a correct record.

2181. Report on Village Fete.
Agenda item 6 moved forward at the request of Councillor Mr. R. Francis.

Mr Francis informed the Parish Council that, subject to audit, the Fete had been financially successful, and that the fete committee were in a position to repay the £500.00 sponsorship money provided by the Parish Council. The Chairman informed the meeting that it was her understanding that the profits made from the fete were going to be shared between various community Projects, and that being the case, proposed that, the £500.00 sponsorship money from the Parish Council be retained by the fete committee. This was unanimously approved by members. Mr Francis thanked the Parish Council and stated that once the audit had been completed, a distribution list of the money would be provided.

Councillor Mt. D. Dyson then proposed that the Parish Council include the sum of £500.00 in the 2009/2010 precept for the sponsoring of another Fete, should there be one. His proposal was unanimously approved by members.

2182. Correspondence.
Letters received by the Parish Council relating to information and future dates of importance, were read to members and referred for filing when appropriate.

2183. Burial Ground, Right of Way.
The clerk reported to the meeting that a request had been received from a property owner, adjacent to the burial ground, that a right of way into the Woodland Glades be rescinded in exchange fora small section of land. The clerk was instructed to obtain more detailsfor the Parish Council.

2184. Maintenance of Play Area and Village cleaning.
The clerk was instructed to place an advertisement in the Village Magazine for a part time village cleaner and handyman. Applications to be considered at the October meeting.

2185. Yeldham Glades.
Councillor Mr. B. Sargeant expressed concern at the lack of income being generated from the Yeldham Glades and proposed that one of the three glades be made available to all sections of the public, with the proviso of a higher charge for residents outside of the local parishes. His proposal was unanimously approved by members. The meeting closed at 1950 hrs.
