MINUTES of the MEETING of the GREAT YELDHAM PARISH COUNCIL

The meeting was held in the Reading Room, Great Yeldham on 2nd September 2010.

Present were:  Mrs P Slimming (Chairman), Mr C Cumaranatunge (Vice Chairman), Mrs L Cordell, Mr J Beckett, Mr B Sargeant, Mr D Dyson, Mrs J Faulkner

In attendance:  Mr R Liming, Clerk to the Parish Council.


2400.  Apologies for Absence.
District Councillor Mr N McCrea, County Councillor Mr D Finch.

2401.  Declarations of Interest.
None received from members.

2402.  Chairman's Greeting.
The Chairman welcomed members of the public to the meeting.

2403.  Public Question Time.
No questions from the public.

2404.  To Confirm The Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 1st July 2010.
The minutes of the Parish Council meeting of 1st July were confirmed as a correct record.

2405.  Clerk's Report.
The clerk reported that a self-closing gate mechanism had been removed from the Play Area gate, and would cost £387.83 + VAT to replace. Members agreed that a replacement should be ordered and that a temporary closing mechanism be installed.

The damaged flooring in the Play Area will now be repaired by the purchase of the required materials. Both items to be agenda items for the October meeting.

Further to concern being expressed by a local resident over reeds blocking the river in certain areas of Great Yeldham, the Environment Agency have been contacted. The results will be an agenda item in the October meeting.

2406.  Planning Applications.
Application No 10/1047/LBC. Removal of internal dividing wall on the ground floor. Brook Farm House. No objections from members.

2407.  To co-opt a new member to the Parish Council.
Members unanimously voted to co-opt Mrs J Faulkner, 14 Carleton Close, Great Yeldham as a member of the Great Yeldham Parish Council. Mrs Faulkner signed the required Acceptance of Office form.

2408.  Correspondence Addressed to the Parish Council.
Information documents were passed to members. The Chairman read a letter, received from Mrs G Wood (no address given) relating to the Village Magazine and the costs involved in the use of two colour pictures. Mrs Wood stated that the picture on the front of the July magazine was clearly advertising a forthcoming exhibition which had involvment from the the Chairman's husband, and should an interest have been declared? The Chairman explained that the exhibition had been organised in conjunction with the village Fund Raising Committee and that the proceeds were given to St Andrews Church. The coloured picture on the front of the September magazine had been paid for by Mr Slimming. The Chairman then read a letter received by the Parish Council from Mr G Slimming, the editor of the Parish Magazine, in which he outlined his intended use of colour in future magazines. Members agreed in principle providing no extra cost to the magazine budget occurred.

2409.  Purchase of Goods.
Members agreed to the following items:

  • The purchase of a new Dog Bin at £202.70 + VAT.
  • Maintenance of the footpath at Leather Lane - Carleton Close at £50.00 per cut.
  • The purchase of 59 sandbags at £15.00 + VAT.

2410.  Sports Ground Update.
Sports Ground administration details were read to members.

2411.  Accounts for payment.
Accounts for payment were approved by members.

 

To be in sequence these minute numbers should have 1000 added to them. Always quote month as well as number.
