REPLACING THE DOCTORS' SURGERY
  • When part of Whitlock's brown-field site factory site was sold for housing development, a planning agreement was made for the Reading Room to aquire the green on completion of the development to use it as a site for a new village Hall or, failing that an open public space.

  • Plans to resite the existing Village Hall (the Reading Room) were put on one side following the flooding of 2002 when restoration and repairs were given higher priority. There was less, if any, need to replace the Reading Room and the Trustees agreed that the land should pass directly into the hands of the Parish Council.

  • The current doctor's surgery is due to close soon and the present Parish Council have offered part of the plot for a new medical centre to include a replacement branch surgery. In the mean time the plot has matured from the original machinery parking area into a most attractive open space.

  • Another site being considered is in Nun's Field on Church Road.
