    IMPROVING SPORTS FACILITIES.
  • Outdoor Sports at the Sports Ground. Great Yeldham has an extremely large and attractive Sports Ground with facilities for cricket and football. There is occasional flooding on the eastern side of the ground, where a ditch has been neglected for many years and needs cleaning out.
The Sports Ground Management Committee could explore ways to increase coaching in various sports if there is sufficient support.
  • Full funding is being applied for from the lottery fund for a skateboard park at the Sports Ground. Planning is well advanced and we should see further progress soon.
  • The Village Appraisal Survey produced a medium priority request for a Sports Complex to be built at the Sports Ground. The suggestion has been noted but no further action taken so far. At present the village has no facilities for indoor sports.

    IMPROVING FACILITIES for YOUNG PEOPLE.

  • The idea of using the current Doctors surgery for a youth centre has been raised. No information has come forward about cost, availability or staffing.
  • There is no shelter on Bowtell's Meadow and perhaps one could installed. The Sports Ground Management Committee has considered opening the front of the old pump shed to make a suitable shelter.

    IMPROVING FACILITIES for LIFETIME LEARNING.

  • Individuals should contact Braintree College and Hedingham School direct for information.
  • Any local volunteers wishing to form a local historical (or any other) society should make themselves known through the village magazine.
