GENERAL TIDINESS.
- Parish Council pays for litter to be collected every week at a cost of about £2,400 per year.
The area covered includes the river. It receives special attention beside North Road where litter accumulates very quickly.
- The Parish Council occasionally organises special litter clearing days for volunteers. In July 2005 the litter picking day covered the river by
North Road, the path to the Sports Ground and the Sports Ground itself.
- A major contribution is being made by volunteers who collect litter every week in the village centre between the collections paid for by the
Parish Council.
UNTIDY FRONTAGES.
- The authorities have very limited powers to enforce tidier frontages.
DOG LITTER.
- This is a problem in several areas, most particularly on the Sports Ground and the footpaths leading up to it where dogs are regularly exercised. The
numbers and positioning of litter bins are constantly under review. Specific suggestions should be made to the Parish Council.
ANGLIA in BLOOM.
- The Cottage Garden Society has recently (in 2004) looked into this very thoroughly. The Regional Organiser of Britain in Bloom has visited
Yeldham to judge at our Annual Shows and has pointed out how suitable Great Yeldham would be for a village entry. An entry needs teams of
volunteers to look after their own parts of the village. A recent appeal in the Parish Magazine produced no answers at all.
CHRISTMAS TREE.
- This is a new idea for the Parish Council to consider.
