Braintree and Colchester District Councils jointly fund the River Colne Countryside Project. The one employee, the Project Officer, Simon
Amstutz, is particularly concerned with wildlife and access.
WORKING PARTIES: he organises working parties of volunteers to improve the river and its valley.
COLNE VALLEY PATH: a continuous footpath route along the valley using existing rights of way, from Great Yeldham to Colchester. Opened
in May 2006, fully signed by the River Colne Countryside Project. Printed guides are available at £3.50 each.
ADVICE: he will visit habitat sites at the request of the owners, public or private, within the Colne Valley to provide habitat advice.
SPORTS GROUND: in 2005 he produced a Conservation plan the Great Yeldham Sports Ground at the request of the Yeldham Conservation
Group.
